Fishing for new opportunities… In September 2000, Baccarat Corporation concluded a major deal in Spain for the supply of South African frozen fish to the European market. Baccarat Corporation exports fish mainly to Spain who, in turn, distributes to Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Investing in South Africa's future The fishing industry was, until recently, inaccessible to most South Africans, and has many obstacles for previously disadvantaged businesspeople. However, this did not dampen Baccarat Corporation's interest in and passion for the fishing industry, which led to us purchasing our own 40m factory trawl vessel. This experience has led Baccarat Corporation into a deep understanding of the complexities of the acquisition and supply of fish to international markets.
